Hi guys, I really wanted to buy the product. I don't want anymore and my motivation is simple: I don't see any real improvement on the new product for me (Actually it improves Acurite's bandwidth's costs). Besides, looks like it has glitches as the old one. Second: they could ship the device to addresses in US despite of the nationality of the card itself. Hello Acurite do you know that there are INTERNATIONAL cards nowadays? So, I really decided to jump ship and I'm tired of receiving and wasting my time on this thread. If you are glad that they postponed the end of the service, good for you. I feel disrespected in many ways. Good buy Acurite, you've lost a customer.

In response to George's mention of the time extension a few posts up.  This was just 7 days ago.

This company has turned in to such an utter joke, I don't know how a reasonable person could take them seriously.

I'll likely go with the La Crosse V40-Pro because it offers similar functionality than what I was used to (an outdoor weather station paired with 10 indoor ($15 each) sensors for a vacation home). It appears to me, but I could be wrong, that the Ambient WS-2902 is just an outdoor weather station but is unable to handle several indoors sensors? Keen to learn what everybody is considering as alternatives now? I am done too with Acurite. Same as others I got full refund from Amazon way outside of the return window and I hope Acurite gets roasted by Amazon.

Can this be stuck at the top of the forum, or do we need to come in here and bump it each day to warn others of the situation?

So now you have wriggled out of the warrenty problem by extening to February.
I am still furious and others will be too. I installed mine in November 2017.
15 monts is still far too short a life span. There is no way i can buy the discounted product as i am in uk plus i would have to pay for shipping and import tax. I also cant afford to buythe upgrade anytime soon.
Extending the deadline to february isnt out of goodwill is it?
I will still be looking in to my consumer rights regardig this. What you are doing is wrong and certainly somthing that should be ilegal.

I hope you go out of buisiness soon.

I currently have 4 smarthubs which can support up to 40 devices.  I now need 6 to do the same thing.  Provided I can even get a discount for 6, that is $240 to replace perfectly functioning equipment.  Seems like a horrible way to say thank you to loyal customers.  I dont really even have a desire to call as it seems like that is a whole different problem.  Would I have to pay an exorbitant amount of money to ship these as well?

Has anyone ordered more than 1 Access with the discount? If so, did you get free shipping?

I purchased mine via Amazon.  Got your email with the code and tried to order but would not process as I am in New Zealand.  I have a USA address I can use but not a USA credit card, so not much I can do it seems.   Certainly will not be paying the full price for upgrading something I purchased a few months ago.

How can we solve this shipping or credit card problem?

I did send an email to support when they noticed my shopping basket had not gone through but had no response.

Hi John,

I purchased my 5 in 1, display and hub from Amazon and had it shipped to Australia in December 2017. I contacted Amazon and organised a return and then purchased new system including he new Access. Amazon were sensational. I explained to them what was happening and they gave me a full refund, including freight, refunded the return freight from Australian to Amazon and shipped me the new unit and waived the freight on the replacement unit. It took a few emails to sort out but the service from Amazon was excellent. You may have better luck going via Amazon. However, I did all this before the announcement extending the end of support to 2019.

Good Luck

Wow! You've got to be kidding me.  Why would I buy a new product from you when you could and probably will just discountinue it in 6 months (or whatever your product cycle is) and force me to buy your 'new' hub. That's ridiculous. Pretty sure we won't be 'upgrading'.

Let me get this right, so this device will be a paperweight? I'm completely fine with you taking away access to my data - I get it, cloud storage isn't free and there has to be some way to monetize when you're storing people's data.  I'm also fine with no updates/firmware etc. You can't support things forever. However, I'm not OK with the fact that I can no longer manage my the sensors connected to my SmartHUB. If I want to pull data off of the bridge directly and manage my sensors, I should be able to do that. I'm not happy that in order to continue to have access to my data, I have to buy a new device that supports less sensors than the previous model. I currently suck data off of the SmartHUB and send it to a meteobridge because it's my data, I can do what I want with it at this point. Now this new hub won't even work with meteobridge because the data isn't locally accessible!

Who are the marketing geniuses thought this was a good idea?  Force people to buy new hardware when there is nothing wrong with the old hardware?  If the issue is backend infrastructure, then take away MyAcurite access unless I buy a new device (or heres a thought - pay a yearly fee).  Either way, I should be able to continue to manage my sensors indefinitely.  Sensors go bad and we buy new ones frequently - so honestly, even the yearly fee is a stretch since I give you guys money almost yearly.

I'm glad I have a year to figure out what to do next, but I only have a month to buy this Access device that will probably be replaced again in 2 years, so maybe I should invest in other weather hardware that is more open about allowing access to their data.

This is still borderline robbery and false advertising at best. I purchased my SmartHub and the rest of my many AcuRite devices only one year ago and now you're telling me that my Hub is going to be a paperweight in a year unless I spend more money on your products. the Hub was the only reason i went with AcuRite to be able to view online. what is to stop you from doing the same thing to the new Hub in 2-yrs and make us buy another one. you are no different from Apple INC embedding software to slow down or crash their older products when new products are released and I am pretty sure they have a class action lawsuit against them that they lost!!!

if you are not able to continue to service the HUB then you should be replacing the HUB from free or at a minimum offer to refund the old one!

This is totally unacceptable - there's not much else to say besides 'Class Action Lawsuit'.

Solved my problem. Purchased a 5 in 1 unit with smart hub in Nov 2017, called Amazon, they sent me a return label and it is going in a box and back to them today. Full refund. I'll be ordering another station from a different company shortly, even if I have to spend more on it. So no Acurite, I will not be forced into spending another $100.00 CDN to buy your new Access unit so I can continue to use my 3 month old weather station. And yes, the cost to me in Canada for the new access hub, with exchange rate and shipping was $100.00 CDN.
I would have stayed if you had continued to provide service for the smart hub for 3-5 more years, not support or updates, just the website and services like connecting to WU. Your decision to extend web services to just outside of any remaining warranty periods was the final straw as it clearly showed you do not listen nor care about your customers.

I bought mine from Amazon in December and was thinking of returning it but figured it was beyond return date. What did you tell Amazon to get them to take it back?

I did the same thing.  I basically told Amazon that the manufacturer will be disabling a critical feature of the product and asking for Ransom in the form of buying additional H/W to keep it operational.  I told Amazon that I fealt that was unreasonable given that my purchase was just a few months old (8/17 for me).  I also sent Amazon a link to the Acurite EOL announcement. I asked Amazon if they could intervene on my behalf.

This was Amazon's response:
Hello,
I'm sorry to hear about the problem you had with Weather Station.
I understand that the manufacturer is disabling a key feature of the product. I'll definitely look into this for you.
I've forwarded the details you sent us to our Investigations team. Each report they receive is investigated and the appropriate action is taken.
Strong customer feedback like yours helps us continue to improve the selection and service we provide. We take this kind of information seriously as it is valuable to us in helping us to continue to improve our program.
Since the manufacturer disable the key feature of the Weather Station, I recommend you to return the item to us for getting full refund and place a new order with other manufacturer if possible.
To help you with this, I've created a return label to return the item to us for getting full refund at our expense.
Please follow this link to print a return mailing label and get instructions for returning the item:

I just switched over from AcuRite's smartHUB to the Access unit and set up.  Now I've lost all my previous smartHUB charting data.  Same for my Underground Weather data. Seems it wants to start a new account.   NOT HAPPY !!

Outrageous!  Dropping a product I bought only a few months ago like a hot potato: IMMEDIATELY? What the heck is that?  Never hear of legacy product support during a 2-3 year phase out?  Don't say we can't: just ask Microsoft, Apple, Netgear, any manufacturer of tech gear.  Somebody there doesn't give a hoot about customers.

Unbelievable.  So the smart hub I bought 6 months ago won't work in a few more months because you now want me to buy something else that does the EXACT same thing?  I couldn't care less about Weather Underground.  I only want to see the sensors through the MyAcurite app for a remote location.  I'm not buying the Access or anything else from AcuRite again.  This should be a free replacement for users of the smarthub or just let it keep working with the app.  Give me a discount code for $129.99 and I'll pay the shipping.
