AcuRite Pro Weather Center (02064C) - AcuRite Display Console Not Detected

I have an issue regarding the data synchronicity/connectivity between the console and my PC. When I plug the console into the PC via USB, the console is detected and can stream data. When I unplug it, the console is no longer detected. It seems evident that the console perhaps needs to be plugged into the PC for data streaming. Possibly naive me thought that that the data was transmitted wirelessly from the console to the PC. The manual correctly states that the console needs to be at least 3 feet away from any sources of interference (i.e. my wireless-network connected PC). I don't have a USB Mini B cable that is 3+ feet longer. Can somebody advise as to what my options are and troubleshooting if the the console is suppose to transmit data wirelessly. Thanks!

the console must remain plugged in by USB to computer to have backyard weather on your computer or to stream to weather underground there is also an optional bridge you can buy and it plugs into your router and works wireless.

Thanks both.
  1. Yep, I found a USB cable that was about 3-4 feet long and established a set-up for that so it so far works. Maybe longer in the future.
  2. David, thanks for confirming that. Yet, you mention using a bridge. Is that to connect the sensor directly to the router? I can't keep my computer on 24/7, but would like to stream my data for usage. I'm hoping that this bridge can act as the intermediary between the sensor and the router rather than require my computer to be up and running all day everyday. Oh, I actually use AcuRite Connect and not Backyard weather. I'm not familiar with the Backyard weather application. Is it compatible with my sensor and can work in conjunction with the AcuRite software? What's the added benefit?
Thanks again, guys!

I am using a 20' usb cable on mine right now. The bridge would get rid of that and you would not need the computer. I believe backyard weather is program for computer to view 5 in one. Acurite connect allows you to stream weather to phone app or weather underground you have your own weather station ID. which is what I do. I think the bridge is about $80 which is why I don't have it yet, hopefully soon though.I hope this clarifies things a little bit

Hi Kevin,

Yes the 02064C weather station does need to be connected to your Windows based computer through USB in order to stream online.  If you would like to stream online with out connecting directly to your PC, you can look at our AcuLink Internet Bridge.  The bridge plugs into the back of your router and streams online for remote viewing.  You can view more information through the following link.  If you  have any other questions, please call us at 877-221-1252.

Indeed, so I recently bought and just received the AcuRite Internet Bridge. I now need to register the bridge so it can connect online. I'm having the same problem as other users with the MAC Address not being accepted: "Either you have typed your MAC address incorrectly, or that bridge is not available. Please verify your MAC address or press the 'Register' button on your bridge and try again!"

I have a situation similar to OP's, except I can/do leave my PC on 24/7.  Therefore, I don't need to connect to my router, I can connect directly to my PC.  My problem is my AcuRite display console is located too far away from my PC for a wired USB connection to be practical.  Therefore, I was wondering if a WIRELESS USB dongle could be used at the AcuRite display console end to wirelessly transmit the USB data to my PC.  My initial search of Amazon didn't turn up any USB dongles with the Mini-size USB plug but, if the basic idea is sound, I'm sure I could find a Mini-USB to USB adapter.  Thoughts?
