Acurite Access, Meteobridge and Rachio Smart Irrigation Control

Here is a typical solution that many Rachio and Acurite customers have developed.  The problem is that Rachio utilizes local weather information to best determine the required irrigation cycle for your lawn.  I LOVE it!  Challenge is that the closest weather station is at an airport that is over 15 miles away.   The solution is (was) to purchase an Acurite 5n1 sensor and smart hub to provide local weather for the system.  Now a new challenge.  Acurite only supports Weather Underground and Rachio requires PWS (Personal Weather Station).   OK, Meteobridge to the rescue and takes care of the translation for you... Yea!!!!  Problem solved.

One year later, Acurite announces that the Smart Hub will no longer be produced or supported but for a very special price you can purchase the new Access... Perfect... But......... The new Access encrypts the data so Metobridge can no longer grab it and pass to PWS???!!!

I know there is a very large number of users out there that purchased the 5n1 explicitly for the purpose of utilizing it with their Rachio unit.  Now we are left "holding the bag".

Would it be too much for you (Acurite) to help those of us that purchased your system for use in a very elegant smart home environment that not only saves us money but also saves water to help us come up with a solution since you changed a key component in your systems that has caused this issue.

The data to wunderground is unencrypted.  If Boris were inclined to read the info from that data stream, meteobridge/weatherbridge would still work.

Another option is to get a PC Connect display and hook it up to the meteobrige.  That will continue to work with no modifications needed.

Acuparse can send data to PWS, CWOP, and more and the author has it working with the Access and it's encrypted data. SmartHub will also continue to work with Acuparse after MyAcurite shuts it down in 2019 (it just won't update to MyAcurite, but will still update to WU, PWS, CWOP, etc). I'm running it on a Raspberry Pi 3 and it works great for me.
