Acurite Access Lost Connection - will not reconnect

My Acurite Access worked fine for weeks, then simply stopped connecting (just get pulsing blue light for hours.)

Yes, I reset stuff - repeatedly. I even did a factory reset on the device.  After much frustration, I decided to figure out what was going on with a network sniffer (I'm an engineer, you tell me to recycle stuff and check cables, just know I did that long before asking.)

So the sniffer showed that the system was querying DNS for  Once it got a response it was hammering away for a time response via NTP.  All well and good for consumers, but for a vendor product that is hardcoded to use this as a time provider it violates their usage guidelines (  This concerns me for a number of reasons, but does not really explain why the device was getting no response after querying.

In my case I have my own DNS internally on my network and was able to set up an entry that would simply route any queries for to a domain controller running NTP.  After setting this up, I recycled the device and it came online almost instantly as it got a response and completed the startup process.

After over a day of the device not working, it is now magically online again.  I would hope they correct the issue with NTP (whatever it may be) as well as their hitting when it violates their guidelines for a vendor device/application to do so.
