I have been using the smart hub successfully with Kevin Key's software to report to WU for over a year now. Does anyone know if Kevin's software is compatible with the new Access?

I have the same question, but more generically, does the Access send the same data packets?

I've been using a RPi to intercept the packets and just replaced a SmartHub with an Access. I'm still seeing the data packet that gets routed to WUnderground, but I'm not seeing any of the individual sensor data packets.

Data from the sensors is bundled and sent to myAcurite at 5-minute intervals.  The sensor data is also encrypted.

The wunderground data stream, however, is still clear and sent real-time.

Programs that "sniff" the network traffic will have to be modified to handle these changes.

Doesn't the Access send the data to myAcurite real-time and myAcurite just displays the data every 5 minutes?  That's how the hub works.

It's changed.  Data is no longer sent real-time to myAcurite.

Just from the Access.  My hub still is.  Probably will save them a lot of resources when the old hubs are slowly replaced by Access.

Right.  It applies to Access only.  Nothing has changed for the SmartHUB.

I'm sure it will be a money-saver all around.  As neat as "rapid-fire" is, it's a heck of a burden in network traffic and data processing that doesn't have much long-term value.

It may be one of the factors that got wunderground in the position they are now in.

Most weather services seem to be holding to a 5-minute reporting interval where things are more manageable.

You will no longer need to use Kevin's software.  I have replaced it with the Access and it does exactly what Kevin's did.  Unless you were sharing different values from different sensors.

Also, since the data is now encrypted and only sent every 5 minutes to myAcurite, Kevin's software won't be able to read it and send it to WU.  I have found that the Access does a really great job of sending to WU and I no longer need to have a dedicated pc to send my data.

Thank you Doug and the others who responded. I had a feeling that the software wouldn't work, but I wanted to verify my hunch.
