Acurite 01515DIA-RX Display issue

I have had problems with the display unit for a while, but was able to resolve them or they resolved themselves. The display light would randomly go on and off every few minutes. That seemed to be resolved with the end of month internal reset most times. Then the outdoor humidity started reading 99% all the time, I think I went to the sensor and gave it a clean to resolve that (maybe not, I can't remember now). Now the display is showing all 8's for everything and all the wind directing arrows are showing at once, basically everything on the display is showing at the same time. I unplugged from the wall socket and the unit connected to the sensor (reset of course) but when I plugged the cable back in it went straight back to the 8's again. Now no matter what I do (reset, unplug, remove and change batteries) nothing changes.

Update. The display is randomly resetting 2-3 times a day. The issue withe the all 8's screen has morphed into this constant resetting. What is going on here?

Hello Led Zep,
The following instructions should help resolve any issues you are having with your display. These steps are different from what you have already preformed.  Please let us know if this issue continues. If it does, when and where was this purchased? Thank you.

To do a pinhole reset: (THIS WILL CLEAR ALL OF YOUR HISTORY AND YOUR SETTINGS)

Please verify that you are using a name brand (Rayovac or Energizer) standard alkaline batteries in the display unit. We do not recommend using anything that is heavy duty, rechargeable, store brand or Lithium inside of the display.

- Remove all power, AC adapter and batteries from the display unit.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button, located in the battery compartment, for 20 seconds.
- Plug back into AC power and insert recommended batteries.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button for an additional 20 seconds.
- Verify that the unit has powered on and once connection has been made, attempt to set time and date.

Thank you. I tried this during a live chat session with an acurite representative about 2 weeks ago as there had been now reply to my question at the time. It partially resolved the issue but not fully. The resets are much less often. It will reset a few times , say 4-5 times in one hour or over the course of a morning but then it will be fine for 2-3 days. I have not installed any batteries so it is not an issue with what the other agent said was a 'voltage spike' coming from the batteries (which have not caused any problems for the previous 2 years). But I did receive a 15% discount on a new display, if I should need to order one. How long would the discount be valid for?

Hello Led Zep,
Typically when a discount is offered the discount is valid for two weeks from the day it was offered.  Thank you.
