AcuRite 01098R Weather Station Humidity measurement not accurate

Humidity measurement is not accurate on the AcuRite 01098R Weather Station that I just purchased. I have the base unit and the remote sensor sitting in the same room about 3 feet from each other. The humidity reading is 65% according to the base and 58% according to the remote sensor. Either the remote sensor or the base unit must be not accurate. Is there some way to calibrate the humidity sensor? Should I just return it?

Hello AveJoe,

How long have they been side by side? The accuracy rating is +/- 0.5°F, +/- 2% RH with manual calibration option. If your units are reading outside of the accuracy range, please verify you are using a high quality standard alkaline battery and perform the troubleshooting steps listed below. Thank you.

Hard reset:

1.Bring both the sensor and display unit indoors and position them side by side.
2.Remove all batteries from the sensor.
3.Remove all power from the display unit.
4. Change the A-B-C channel on both the display and sensor making sure they both match.
5.Reinstall batteries in display last.
6.Let units sit within a couple feet of each other for 5 minutes to ensure a wireless signal is received. Once you have the outdoor temperature you can put the sensor back outside. If this does not correct the problem, please contact our AcuRite Loyalty Team at 262-249-3259.
