acu-rite outdoor sensor unit full of ants

my acu-rite ioutdoor sensor stopped working and when I went to change the batteries the unit is full of tiny anyts? what causes this? can I clean it out and reuse?

Yes clean it out and try it. You can try using a brush, compressed air, or a vacuum to remove the ants. They say the moth balls will help keep bugs out. After its all cleaned out it still might not work but its worth a try. What causes this just bugs looking for a home.  Good luck.

I use Home Defense to keep the spiders out of my 5 in 1 units.  Spray some on a paper towel and wipe the outer case.  I do this a couple times during the summer.

Hello Maggie,

You can clean the sensor out, and lightly coat it with bug spray.  Bugs tend to make nests in the sensors depending on the model number of the sensor.
