Access Offline

Access has been running fine for about 2 weeks, reporting the 5in1 and 2 other temp/humidity sensors to the dashboard. Yesterday, I noticed that the 5in1 was in red - offline while the other 2 sensors  were green and reporting with no gaps.

At the same time, I have the Smarthub running alongside the Access and reporting the same 3 sensors perfectly. Data is being sent to WU from the 5in1 without a problem.

I have reset the Access several times with same result. Light on the Access is solid blue since it is reporting the other 2 sensors. Any thoughts?

After a few weeks or use, I was starting to get three or four lost connections notices from Acurite per day with the Access.  I got tired of the thing not working so yesterday I re-installed my good old Smart Hub and guess what? Not a single lost connection email from Acurite in 24 hours.

The device is clearly faulty and needs to be recalled and refunds offered. Another solution is to keep supporting the Smart Hub instead of phasing it out as it is continuing to work well. this would give users a choice (although it is hard to understand why anyone would choose a broken Access over the Smart Hub).  Are you listening Acurite? Are you open to suggestions?

Hello GNG,

We are happy to assist you with your AcuRite Access. Please reconnect your Access.  Does your sensor come back online by itself or do you have to do a power cycle to get them back up and running? I see you are sending to Weather Underground, do you lose connection to WU as well? What building material is between the Access and the sensors? What is the make and model of your router? Are you using a switch? What brand of batteries do you have in your Access? Do you have the Access within 3 feet of any major electronics, router and smartHUB included? If so, please move the Access away from the electronics as far as the Ethernet cable will allow you.

GNG, hear hear. All that stuff Rachell mentioned above has very little to do with the problems we are having with the Access. I still use my smartHUB to send data to WU as the Access goes offline to often. I have tried moving it, keeping it away from other devices and placing as close as I can to the sensor and still have issues.

And no they don't have any workable suggestions and I've been scouring the forums to no avail.

Rachell, thank you for trying to help with the Access connection problem.  I have tried all the suggestions you and others have made and nothing works.  The batteries are Duracells.  Actually having a battery backup made no difference as missing data is not fed to the servers after the Access reconnects. The only thing different is that when the Access works, it shows wind gusts and the Smart Hub only does if the wind is strong enough.  The other thing that is different is that I have not received a single lost connection email alert since re-connecting my Smarthub  several weeks agao and was getting 3 or 4 a day with the Access.

I will be keeping the Smarthub connected until Acurite no longer supports it and then, like others, will look for a different weather station solution. Thank you.

I have come to the same conclusion as you. At least we can use the smartHUB till February.
