5in1 Sensor (06014RM) showing correct temps. Too cold at night too hot during the day.

My 5in1 sensor is displaying some unusual temps. At night it is usually 5 degrees colder then other temps reported on weather underground, and also my personal red fluid outdoor thermometer. During the day its usually 5 to 10 degrees hotter. The 5in1 is mounted on a white flat "cool roof"  5 feet high above the roof. Since The temp is variable colder in the cold hotter in the hot I can't simply add correction to the device in myAcurite. Im not sure what to do. Here are the steps Ive tried so far.

-Reset the device. Brought it indoors. pulled the batteries, set the ABC switch accordingly and let them sit together inside for 30min...

-Put in fresh lithium batteries...

-Pulled the top off the sensor to see is the Aspiration fan is turning from sunlight. (It turns with sunlight on its own. Not sure it is moving fast enough but it does kick in and move...)

What else could it be? a faulty temp sensor?

Thanks in advance,
Brad

No help, but exactly the same problem. They will tell you to pick a new location, I think.

I'm not sure I'd trust the "cool roof".  It's likely better than being dark, but I suspect the temperature above it is still elevated above ambient.

The temp sensor measures heat, not "cold".  Usually if they read lower than expected, it generally is colder for some reason.  For example, colder air is heavier and thus settles in low-lying areas and thus does not agree with nearby sensors mounted at higher elevations.

I suppose the sensor could be defective, but that's kind of a long-shot.

If I do get told to move it to another spot, does anyone have suggestions? Seems the roof would be best as it has a clear view. Nothing to stop wind or rain. Everywhere else I have would be up against a wall, or on the side of the house. Or under a tree... Seems like Ill always be sacrificing wind readings for temp?

Thanks of your thoughts!

W/ or w/o the calibrations the temp is off. I'm currently not looking at the physical display, just using what in MyAcuRite.

Hello Brad,

We need to know if the display is reading the same as My AcuRite. If they are it would be time to discuss warranty options with you.  Thank you and have a great day!

The display tracks along with the same tempurure that MyAcuRite displays. There is no difference.
