5 IN 1 Humidity reading is malfunctioning and temperature problems

Lately my 5 IN 1 PWS has been reporting to humidity of 99% when it has been quite dry and while it is raining or the humidity is high it reads a lower humidity reading. Can you fix this? I also have another 5 IN 1 that says the temperature is always a ridiculously low temperature at -40 degrees Celsius when the temperature was actually in low plus 30s Celsius.

My SmartHUB has also been doing weird things lately. I've had this for 4 or 5 years now and had no problems up till now. The other day it disconnected all of our PWS sensors and then when I went to connect them back it said that there were over 30 plus weather stations in the area. I know that that was wrong because I live in a rural location in Nova Scotia, Canada. It's also just been going on and off lots. I have done troubleshooting and nothing seems to work. Please any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I'm having the same issue with my 5-in-1 displaying -40 Celsius, independent of the outside temperature. Started yesterday. To eliminate the possibility of it just being an inaccurate reading, the temperature on the display was changed from Celsius to Fahrenheit. It still displayed -40 Fahrenheit. Something is not right here.

Other functions such as wind speed/direction are working fine, strong signal, etc.

Batteries replaced, repaired, etc, no joy, temperature remains at -40 Celsius or -40 Fahrenheit. It is +5 degrees Celcius here today (2018/01/28).

This 5-in-1 station was purchased a little over a year ago as a Christmas gift and installed this past spring (2017). It was a replacement 5-in-1 for another 5-in-1 that ended up with the same -40 issue. Dissected and recycled the old 5-in-1 with no visible issues inside the unit.

Dropping more $$ for another 5-in-1 is not in the cards. Love this thing so hopefully (not) there are others with the same issue that can help Acurite determine if there is a deeper issue for corrective action.

Derek depending on which 5 in 1 you have you may be able to change just the temp / humid sensor

As Ledrak indicated, depends.  The words 5 in 1 in a black box under the Acurite Logo on the side of the Rain collector have the replaceable unit

Excellent, looks like I have a compatible unit; I will go with the sensor replacement unit. Thanks folks!

It is not that simple.  Follow the link to the replacement, and it will show what to look for.

Hello Lucas,
Steve and Ledrak are correct. A -40 reading can be corrected by a replacement temperature and humidity board if your model is compatible.  I was able to locate a My AcuRite account under your name however, this account does not have a 5in1 sensor. I do not see any available sensors, was this issue corrected? Thank you.

Hello Lucas,

Thank you for providing this information. I now see the 5in1 on the account. I think the issue previously was a glitch in my search. I can see it is currently updating on My AcuRite and I do not see any available sensors. When the smartHUB goes offline, what are the lights on the HUB doing? Thank you.

I had the same problem. The components on the board weren't varnished verry well.
So I had some oxidation on the soldering of the temp en humidity chip.
Cleaned it en re- solderd it.
Then put a good layer of varnish on the contact points, and voila..... problem solved and good reading back on the screen.
Looks like my 5 in one is not compatible ....But even if it was there is no stock available to order..The other issue is that the pictures of 5 in 1 they sell in amazon ebay or anywhere do not show they sell the compatible one...
The sensor broke in 2 years ...if i buy a new 5 in 1 i will buy it with a spare part otherwise do not make sense ...better buy a whole new system from another manufacturer with the same cost .Transportation costs are killing this product...so.
Can i repair the 5 in one ? Can I put ,solder the unsupported spare humidity and temp sensor on my older 5 in 1 ?
Are you willing to have stock of spares ??
Can you provide the 2 components information so I can change just the components.
My gateway failed too...i just got a new one and i dont have the blue LED lighting but works.....2 days later the 5 in 1 started the false readings. Wish i would have bought a new full system from the begining ...transportation costs killed me ....
If i dont find a cheap way to repair the 5 in 1 i will have to abandon the system and get a 10 in 1 ambient with 169$ brand new with everything including IFTTT functionality.
Weather Underground kicked me out.....2 months now and i cannot get it up and running...
components found....just 2
Sensirion SHT21, Temperature & Humidity Sensor -40 → +125 °C ±0.3 °C, ±2 %RH Serial-I2C DFN, 6-Pin
and a 100nf capacitor....I will start from the capacitor....which looks to have the damage.
Capacitor is 100nf ,SMD, MLCC size 1206 , 25V will do the job. Keep in mind Sensirion has SHT21 with code SHT21D , D means Digital, This is the one you need , dont get confused and get the SHT21S is another bus interface and will not work,
cost is around 4 euros for the sensor and 5 euros for 10 capacitors...If i was living in US and had the compatible 5 in 1 and also if stock exists, i would prefer to get the replacement board with 10 dollars ...but none of these are happening. And Support still nowhere.....
Repaired failed due to very delicate components. Is not an easy job for everyone to deal with surface mount components. Next trial will be with the arduino module with the SHT21D sensor. I will try to mount it on the existing PCB and connect the existing leads to the pins of the arduino module.Supposed to be the same.
SUccess!!!!! the 5 in 1 is up and running !!!
You can find the arduino module at Amazon .and just need to solder the 4 end of the ribbon cable.
Easy and did the job
