12 hour humidity trend never exceeds 60%

I have the model 01301 3-in-1 weather station. The realtime outdoor humidity seems relatively accurate, but in the 12 hour trend section of the display the humidity never, ever reads higher than 60% even when the realtime is showing 99%. I reported it to the company and they sent me a replacement display. It does exactly the same thing.

I am wondering what the deal is here. This is the original display, showing a humidity of 84%, but the trend only shows 60% across the board, including current:

Hello James,

We are sorry to hear you are having a problem with the replacement display. Can you please provide us with the 4 digit date code located inside the battery compartment of the display? It typically starts with QC.

The following instructions should help resolve any issuesyou are having with your display.

To do a factory reset: (THIS WILL CLEAR ALL OF YOUR HISTORY AND YOUR SETTINGS)

Please verify that you are using a name brand (Rayovac or Energizer) standardalkaline batteries in the display unit. We do not recommend using anything thatis heavy duty, rechargeable, store brand or Lithium inside of the display.

- Remove all power, AC adapter and batteries, from the display unit.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button, located in the batterycompartment, for 20 seconds.
- Plug back into AC power and insert recommended batteries.
- Press and hold down the pin hole reset button for an additional 20seconds.
- Verify that the unit has powered on and once connection has been made, attempt to set time and date.

If this does not correct the problem, please let us know. Thank you. Enjoy your day!

This is a brand new replacement display sent to me when my original display did exactly the same thing. I have been through the whole reset thing several times, and am using the recommended Energizer batteries; however, it is also plugged in, so isn't even using the batteries at the moment. The date code is QC4514. Since posting this issue, I have found several others reporting the same problem going back a couple of years. Is it not time to determine why this is occurring and fix it?

The above photo is my original display. This is the new one. You can see that the current RH is 92%, the high for the day is 99%, but the 12 hour trend I'd 60% across the board.

I just bought this station and mine is doing the same? I have tried the batteries and a reset. The 12hr RH goes down but not higher than 60. What should I do

David, just keep making a fuss with the company, insisting they send you a working unit. After several attempts, I was finally sent two working units. It's worth noting, however, that with all the displays I now have, no two of them read the same in all windows. Even the wind speed is different from one to the other, even though they are all supposed to be getting the data from the same outdoor source. It is painfully obvious that quality assurance is not part of this company's mission statement. Someday I'd like a higher end weather station, but I'd never buy it from these people. They just don't care about accuracy.

Hello James,

We do care about accuracy in our products. If you are using 2 displays on 1 sensor it should be reading the same on both displays. How far off are the readings that you are seeing on the displays?

You also sent me this question via email and I replied to that the next day, but 5 days later you have failed to even acknowledged my reply, let alone commented on it. I set up every display I have in the house and provided to results. Did you not get them? Or are you ignoring me?

Yeah, I sent them an email last week and haven't heard back, either. They do not have a good reputation for customer service, and this is one of the biggest reasons.

Why do you send correspondence through email, when you don't want replies from that email? It will take me a while to get the data to send again, but will post it here soon.

Hello James,

We do not offer troubleshooting correspondence via email. Typically we email a customer when we need more information from them such as personal information or even a CSV file that we need to look at. Thank you.

The email I send last week was this:

Last night:

Actual wind speed reported as 26 KPH
Wind chill reported as -9

This morning:

Actual wind speed reported as 75 KPH, Gusting to 94 KPH
Air pressure reported as 99.8 KPa

As you can see, some parts, such as the outdoor temperature are accurate; however, wind speeds are not only quite different from unit to unit, they are not reliably different from each other, and are significantly different from the actual Environment Canada readings. I expect variation from Environment Canada within reason, but this morning's readings were significantly different. Last week, we had a wind so strong that blew a large branch out of the tree closest to the outdoor unit, yet no indoor unit showed a wind exceeding 36 KPH. That was the night we had a wind gust of 104 KPH, so quite the discrepancy!
