Acurite won't allow me to make a comment about the 02081M I purchased but I'm so very disappointed with the screen. If I stand more than 6 feet away the numbers disappear. What goes? Do you guys think it's a defective product?

My guess is it is too bright.  Dim the display down and see what happens.  Also, see if you tilt the display a little if you can read it better.

Display Backlight Settings

This weather station’s color display features three different lighting settings:

High (100%) brightness, Medium (60%) brightness and Low (15%) brightness.

When the display is powered with the power adapter (recommended), the

backlight remains on at 100% brightness by default. Adjust the backlight

brightness by pressing and releasing the “+” or “_” buttons.

Using battery power alone, the backlight is available momentarily for 10

seconds by pressing and releasing the “+” or “_” buttons.

Hello Tom,
This display is an LCD screen. LCD screens can be hard to see at different angles. All LCD screens are meant to be viewed straight on at eye level.  Please provide a picture of the display at eye level so we can take a look. Thank you.
