Jason I'm not sure about what you mean by problem icon, where on the screen maybe you could post a screen shot.  But if the display will not show a rain measurement you may need to do a hard reset of the display. The other question is, is the sensor actually  measuring rainfall the problem could be there.

was working then we moved. I reset everything as per instructions. Started to work so I poured for a calibration and it won't read the water I pour in.

Ok according to the manual that symbol to the right of rainfall indicates mare than an inch of rain in 2 hours.  (https://www.acurite.com/media/manuals/01506-01524-01534-instructions.pdf    page 4 / 5)  The manual does not say how to or if it clears on its own after x amount of hours. have you had heavy rain?  I'm thinking the reset may be the place to start.  I just saw that you moved, so you moved the sensor, did you reinstall the shipping block for the tipping buckets?

you should remove all power from the display (batteries and power supply) for 5 minutes  press and hold reset button tor 10 seconds.  After 5 minutes re install batteries and power supply again press and hold reset  button for 10 seconds and see what happens.   You may have damaged the sensor in the move if it was bounced around to much.

Ok when you pour the water through the sensor do you hear the buckets moving? You may need to take the unit apart and take a look at the buckets.     https://www.acurite.com/learn/installation/5in1#maintenance  follow the directions for sensor cleaning in order to take the sensor apart.. there are 4 screws around the outside of the unit 1 is inside the mounting hole. do not touch the 2 in the middle they are for calibrating the rain gauge.

Hello Jason,

Please verify you are using the battery recommendations and try the troubleshooting steps listed below. If this does not correct the issue, when and where was this purchased? Thank you.

Batteries:

•Verify you are using fresh alkaline batteries or lithium batteries (when temperature is below -4°F/-20°C) in sensor.

•Quality brand batteries are recommended, including Duracell, Rayovac, Energizer, or Kirkland.

•Verify batteries are fresh. The battery expiration date should be at least 6 years out. Batteries can lose 3% power or more every year in storage.

•Heavy duty, extra strength or generic / store brand batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the way these types of batteries disperse power. Each battery should not exceed 1.6 volts.

•Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the voltage instability of these types of batteries.

•Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.

Hard reset:
- Bring both units side by side and remove all batteries, unplug display if it has an ac adapter
- Change the ABC Switch to a different setting and ensure that both are on the same setting. example - If on A, move both to C
- Place batteries into the outdoor sensor first
- Place batteries into display
- Allow units to sit side by side until they connect.
