01057rm Rain Fall Inaccurate. Cup Test OK

I have a new 01057RM installed and the rain measurement has me stumped.

If I drip an 8 oz cup of water over a time period of 20-30 minutes through the mounted sensor, the mulitcolor display 06016RM records about 1" of rain. I have counted drips and it is taking 24 to 28 drips to make the buckets tip each way. The sensor is level.

Here is the strange part: if it is actually raining, the 06016RM is reading almost exactly 50% of a V tube style Taylor gauge.

I have verified the Taylor is correct using the area of the opening and calculating the volume 1" of rain would represent and pouring this into the Taylor. Based on this I know the Taylor is correct.

The 06014RM 5-1 sensor is mounted on my roof so there is no blockage preventing the rain from collecting in the cup. I did the

Another oddity, when I do the 8 oz test, the bridge is reporting slightly less rainfall than the counter top display when I compare the display to the acu-link dashboard.

The countertop display is showing 5 of 5 bars signal and the acu-link dashboard is showing 3 of 4 bars.

Any ideas?????

Hi Pendetim,

The display should read 1.06 after the drip test is complete. If it does not then you need to adjust the calibration screws, and repeat the test. Once the calibration test is complete, the rain reading should read correctly. If it does not please contact AcuRite customer support at 877-221-1252. Have a great day!

Hi, possibly my post was confusing. When I do the 8 oz test on the Acu Rite gauge it does in fact read about 1 inch of rain. However in an actual rain event it is reading pretty close to half of of what my Taylor cone style gauge reads.

I have verified the accuracy of the Taylor gauge.

Hello Pendetim,

What is the height that you have both of the rain gauges at?  Where are each of the rain gauges located?  If you are comparing the rain readings, both gauges need to be at the same height and location. There may be a slight difference between them due to the way the rain is falling, and the wind.  If you continue to have a problem, please contact AcuRite customer support at 877-221-1252. Have a great day!
