00754 beeps every 30 seconds or so... why.  I've had this for 10 years, at least, and never has this happened.  We changed the batteries on the main unit.

Welcome to the beep club! I think they all start malfunctioning after a few years. Some part inside goes bad. The only way to fix it is to take the unit apart, and cut the wire that goes to the alarm in the unit. It kills the alarm function, but stops the beeping. It also voids the warranty from Acu-rite. I cut the wire on mine about two years ago, and it still works fine, but no alarm function. That's ok with with me, because I never used the alarm anyway. Contact Acu-rite on instructions on how to cut the wire.

Hello Marilyn,

Please try the following troubleshooting steps before cutting the wires.  The beeping could be signal loss.  Please let us know if this corrects the issue.  Thank you and have a great day!

Batteries:
•Verify you are using fresh alkaline batteries or lithium batteries (when temperature is below -4oF/-20oC) in sensor.
•Quality brand batteries are recommended, including Duracell, Rayovac, Energizer, or Kirkland.
•Verify batteries are fresh. The battery expiration date should be at least 6 years out. Batteries can lose 3% power or more every year in storage.
•Heavy duty, extra strength or generic / store brand batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the way these types of batteries disperse power. Each battery should not exceed 1.6 volts.
•Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use with AcuRite products because they may cause performance irregularities due to the voltage instability of these types of batteries.
•Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.

Hard reset:
- Bring both units side by side and remove all batteries, unplug display if it has an ac adapter

-Install the batteries in the main unit first then the sensor before closing the sensor press the TX button

-Leave the units side by side until you start reading outdoor information.

I keep having the alarm go off and the switch is on the "Off" mode on the back.  When the beeping starts, the icon that looks like a satellite flashes with the beep.  I cannot shut either one off.

Hello Dale,

We would recommend cutting the speaker wires. It is sounding because the speakers are going out in the thermometer.

1. Remove the (6) six screws located on the back of the unit.

2. Cut the RED & BLACK wires that are connected to the speaker. (Copper colored circle)
