AcuRite Partners with Weather-Display.com for PC Connect Update
-
WOW - excellent news. This should be a major upgrade to the PC Connect software!

-
pretty much most of the folks want plugNplay ... a tall order
-

Thanks Steve..Jeff usually sent emails regarding beta releases to those who subscribed. For some reason I didn't receive the latest update which I understand is good news as I'm not following WD activities like others. But that does look like a great alternative.
-
-
To be honest, I am getting very tired of hearing "in a few days" a new update will be available.
It has been weeks since you issued an apology finally acknowledging a problem, and although I appreciate that you have probably been working hard on a solution I can't for the life of me understand what is taking so long. I have at least a dozen products (heart monitors, gps, mp3, etc) that connect flawlessly through my UBS ports maybe you need a new programmer and someone who knows how to do acceptance testing. -
-
The issue now has become one of credibility. Since mid December we have been informed that a solution would be available in "a few days" and even "by Saturday AM". It is now February and nothing has changed. It is rather pitiful.

What version of windows are you running and what error /event log issue is being reported?

So how is this partnership work, WD cost $70 so what are they offering to acurite will it be only a subset of WD and is that no cost to persons now owning a acurite weatherstation i.e. 01025 etc. Jeff if you could fill us in a bit here would be great. Not sure what way to go here. WD is nice but I am waiting to see what Acurite is offering for a downloadable software.
Thanks

wingin it ... nope ... a while back this was discussed on the WD forum ... plugNplay originally ment device recognition and driver install, made easier... todays world has changed the understanding of the phrase to ... little knowledge needed to operate and be sucessful ... much like todays gaming, you can plug it in and play, but there is a steep learning curve to the game playing.

Thanks, George...must have missed the WD thread.

I was thinking of purchasing 5 rental pidgeons, one for each of the 5 weather functions till the upgade comes through; as I would need windy, rainy, temperate, humitity and barraffy. LOL
I really do like the monitor and being able to know my room temperature as now I know it isn't my body but my room realy is getting cool or hot depending if the furnace is working.
We have an awning which is one reason I went for this system as I can set the wind alarm to 10 miles per hour and get the warning by email and by cell phone and know it is time to bring it in.-
check wallmart, they have pigeon prices rolled back this week

Hi PC Connect users,
AcuRite is continuing the testing of the new & improved PC Connect utility (a few test lab images enclosed). We're testing the utility on Windows 7, Vista and XP to ensure a stable release that works the way you expect it to.
Just to clarify and respond to everyone's questions, the new utility will provide all of the same functionality of the first version, including:
1) Download CSV file of your sensor data to your PC
2) Stream data to Acu-Link.com for use with AcuRite's My Backyard Weather software
3) Access data on your mobile device with the Acu-Link app, available in the iPhone app store and Android marketplace
In addition, the next release will provide the following NEW features:
4) Shows your weather sensor data in a widget on your PC screen (see image)
5) OPTIONAL: Connects to the weather-display.com software. You can try Weather-display.com software for free for 30 days. Should you choose to buy the software, it's available for $70 and offers a variety of advanced features. Visit weather-display.com for details.

NEW PC WIDGET FEATURE:
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Thanks,

Hi tewhite4,
Kara's "For Sale" is referring to the 9150TRX standalone bridge which was planned for April release. My understanding from her post above is that the new Acurite PC-Connect utility will be free. However, Weather Display software will be $70. -

Hi Mikosh
Thanks...I should be following the board discussion rather than responding to the topic discussions that pop up on my email account from time to time. Sorry Kara...! -

Out of curiosity, is there a protocol specification available for the USB interface? I'm running in a Linux and Mac environment and have been considering developing my own open source software to interface with these weather stations.
Thanks!-
Hi Tyler, There is not a protocol available for release yet. When this version of beta has stabilized, we will make the protocol available. Also, just FYI, a Mac compatible version of the PC Connect software is on our development list.

I guess I missed something with the 1035 install or setup but I am not sure what?
The pressure sensor is off by about 5kpa which I think is the height above sea level, but I can't find anything about how to change that. I am at an elevation of 4050 ft.
above sea level. The reading would not be giving the pressure reduction to sea level, or in this case it is not adding the 5 kpa to correct for the elevation. I will not be sending my data to MBY as the site is ??? too many trees houses etc. I am just using for temperature at this time and that seems fine. -

Good Morning fisherge7354,
The barometric pressure is calibrated through our patented 14 Day Learning Mode, this begins upon installation. Once the learning is complete the pressure will be calibrated for your location. -

I received an email in March about updating BACKYARD WEATHER software but got tied up with many other things and deleted THE EMAIL, so can I get re-notified as to what the latest information is and is there an updated software that works with 1025, as I have read where some are having problems but can't tie the two together as it may be a diffent weather station they are talking about.
..
THANKS
great-grandpa jerry (aka) GERALD PLUEARD
