I purchased an accurite wireless weather station last Christmas and did not install it until April 2011 and the exterior sensor is already faulty according to the person I talked to when I called in . Is there any help Accurite will offer. I feel I purchased an inferior product due to only lasting that long. We bought it on sale at Bass Pro for around $70 and the item was shown as a $99 value. I feel I got beat! Please respond to lbcbrent@yahoo.com. The product I bought was a #00638 Acu rite Wireless Weather Station.

I'm haveing issues too with my 638 and was wondering if they fixed your problem or was it not worth the hassel and shipping costs.

Mine wont reset, wind speed gets stuck,history mode all blacked out,three feet away new batteries and no sensor strenght.tonight inside temp only.

Mike,
When you say that you're getting inside temp only does this mean that the rest of the display is completely blank or do the outdoor features display dashes (--)? If it is showing dashes please try the following reset.
1. Bring the units together inside and remove at least one battery from each, let the units rest without batteries for 30 minutes.
2. Inside each battery compartment there is an ABC channel switch, try changing this to a different channel, making sure they always match eachother.
3. Replace the batteries into the outdoor sensor
4. Then replace the batteries in the main unit.
5. Let the units sit within a couple feet of eachother for 20 minutes to gain a strong connection.

Over the last month I've tried several times to reboot the units according to the manual and i have found it's a 50/50 chance it will work,I recently brought the outdoor sensor down off the tower i have for my wind turbin and brought it inside to get it close to the main unit,i took all batteries out and replaced because it showed a low signal strenght,I replaced batteries according to the manual and after 24 hours i still didn't reset or show a signal i thought it was showing only indoor temps but it was at -188 celcius and 88 percent humidity and history graph all blacked out and unable to change modes.I went to dinner and came back and it's working,don't know why or for how long before the wind speed sticks again or i have no signal.Sometimes i just think theres a short in the main unit.This worked fine all summer till about a month ago.I feel i need to do something soon before the warranty runs out and with wind and solar i have other things to do than climb the tower.It seems to be fine now and i put the outdoor unit back up on the tower this evening.Any suggestions would be great,i'm also thinking of upgrading to a better unit with wind direction.By the way i like your site and the fact a rep. monitors the reveiws.Thanks Mike
