Acurite 01025/01035 working with a beta version of Weather Display

I have 1035 and downloaded Weather Display with support for acurite. However its not reading from the console. Usb says drivers are installed. When I click on Dallas 1 wire, I get data flowing and numbers but not the correct numbers, (shows 13C but temp on panel is -7C) and no wind data.
Is there a USB update that will help???

Hey aj - the problem is that there is a bug in the latest version of WD that breaks support for the acurite stations. The latest version is 10.37R build 07. The 10.37R build 05 version works great with my 1025. This is the version I was using when I took the above screen shots.

The are two files you need to download the first is on this page and is called setupacurite.exe. Go ahead and install it and then go into the weather display directory and delete a file called hid.dll - don't worry there is a new version in your windows directory (assuming you have installed the windows updates). WD won't work right with the hid.dll that is in the 05 build but when you delete that file out of the WD directory it will automatically default to using the hid.dll that is in your windows directory.

After you have it installed then go to this page on the WD forums

and download the file called acurite.zip then upzip it into the WD directory and let it overwrite the original acurite.exe file that is in there. Note this is the acurite data reader program that gets data from the console and relays it to Weather Display. It is much more responsive than the original version.

This is the configuration I have been testing for the last 2 days and it works great.

I have also filed a bug report with Brian the developer of WD and he will be spitting out a new build in a day or two with the issue fixed so you could wait for the new version if you don't want to run the beta configuration.

After I installed the 07 version, I just re-installed the 05 version over the 07 version and everything returned to working right again.

I followed the instructions and I have the new build inplace working, however, I'm not getting updated info without rebooting. There seems to be no polling for info. I guess we wait for the next episode, er build I mean.

Make sure the acurite.Ede program in the WD directory is running. If it is and you are still having trouble then try running without the Pc connect program and stop the acurite service. If that doesn't work then I don't know what else to try.

After restarting and rebooting several times the data started to flow with the exception of the pressure data. We.ve had a storm in the area and the pressure has been changing but not the pressure readout. It opened with a particular figure 1013.0 and has stayed there. I went to setup and changed the barometer entry but there was no response.

Not sure why you guys are having problems with the barometer that I am not having. The only thing I can suggest at this point is to open the control panel, then choose the "units and other settings icon" then when that screen opens choose the "barometer setup" tab then insure that the checkbox for "Use QFE barometer (uses the altitude setting)" is not checked. Then in the barometer offset window, enter the offset necessary to calibrate your barometer properly (note also if you enter the barometer offset in inches instead of hpa then insure that checkbox is also checked. That is the way I have my baro setup and it works fine.

Have it up & running on my 01025 & working great so far Install went smooth. Much to set up. A ? tho. On start up for the 1st time, it states that this is a trial version for 30 days then have to pay $$$ for it. Is this true for the coming update? If so, off it goes on my machine & stickin w/ the current build & live w/ it.

Weather display does cost money to use beyond the trial. I licensed my copy in 2004 and this is the 3rd station I have used with it as you get a lifetime license. It get updates often with new features several times a month.

The acurite software is pretty cool but WD is much more advanced. I am sure that acurite is committed to fixing the bugs and adding new features so it will only get better and better.

Brian posted a fixed version of his latest build today with a fix for the broken build. Acurite support is no longer in beta but is now in the main stream build of Weather Display (at least for 1025 and 1035 and perhaps others).

From now on folks should go to the weather display forum and website for info about Weather Display. Acurite's support forum is for their hardware and software and so discussions about Weather Display should take place on its forums which are very busy with lots of expertise about Weather Display there.

Thanks again to all of the acurite customer care staff - you guys do a great job and the 1025 and 1035 are great products for their price.

Gene make sure the acurite service is not running - WD doesn't need it and it could be sending data too and confusing the mbw server. It work fine on my system.
